Tegemeo receives Grant for Institutional Strengthening

Following an informative institutional assessment, Tegemeo received a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) to support the institute in addressing the organizational challenges that impede its goal of becoming a world class agricultural research institute.

The support is aimed at strengthening the institute to become an important regional hub for Measurement, Learning, and Evaluation (MLE) that can provide high calibre MLE technical assistance services to development projects in East Africa, including Gates Foundation grantees. The grant supports the establishment of a dedicated team to lead in delivery of MLE projects. This team will be supplemented with contributions from the institute’s current team, faculty staff seconded from Egerton University and partners in the region. The support from the foundation mainly focuses on three areas:

  1. Strengthening staff and capabilities,
  2. Upgrading data management and communication infrastructure, and
  3. Developing partnerships and networks

The project was launched on December 20th, 2013.
